Job Description

Content strategy at Refinery29 is the strategic interplay of data, analysis, and content direction that is defining the future of media. It’s a collaborative process between editorial and marketing with the shared goal of producing content that is resonating with our readers in the right format and at the right time.  

Refinery29 is looking for a content strategy coordinator who is obsessed with data and style.  This role will be pivotal in directing the content we produce and how we connect with millions of smart, stylish, creative readers each month.

So who’s a good fit?  Someone who is eager, ambitious, curious, data-driven, creative, Internet-savvy, and fun!  Someone who likes to own projects, run experiments, and use data to draw conclusions.  Someone who lives in pivot tables and is an active content consumer.  This role is for someone who likes to be challenged.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Offer insights: Analyze our content and partner with our editors to help them make better content decisions
  • Report what matters: Monitor daily site traffic to make sure we are successful
  • Test everything: Design and run experiments to help optimize all aspects of our content
  • Inform strategy: Help craft our strategy to grow across new and emerging channels

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
  • 1-3 years of analytical or strategic experience in media, finance, tech, or a related field
  • Uncanny attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to use data to support or refute a hypothesis
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with our writers, art team, executive team, and sales teams
  • You can maneuver Microsoft Excel in your sleep
  • Experience with web and social analytics
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the media landscape
