Head Coach, Strength & Conditioning/Sports Complex & Event Manager

Job Description

Summary

Queens University of Charlotte is seeking qualified candidate for the position of Head Coach, Strength & Conditioning/Sports Complex & Event Manager. This is a full-time position responsible for the health and safety of student athletes during strength and conditioning activities as well as coordination of all events and operational activities at Queens’ Sports Complex on Tyvola Road.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, expertise, training, and coaching with regard to strength and conditioning for all sports teams.
  • Oversee student athletes’ exercise and weight training and activities, work with athletic trainers and coaches to build strength, improve flexibility, and assist in the rehabilitation efforts of all sports teams.
  • Coordinate the comprehensive facility arrangements for scheduled and approved internal and external athletics complex programs, including all-campus events, athletics events, and third party requests. 
  • Communicate the Sport Complex’s schedule with all necessary parties (campus services, campus policy, staff, and facility management).
  • Ensure timely, secure opening and closing of buildings according to schedule; Manage security of buildings, light schedule, space utilization, set-up, clean-up, IT support, A/V support.
  • Direct operations, maintenance, and utilization of all athletics controlled facilities in conjunction with campus services.
  • Serve as liaison to office of Parks and Recreation for shared facility agreements.
  • Work with the University’s facility manager to execute contracts and coordinate events
Non-Essential Duties
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department goals.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required

  • Experience managing facilities of the size and complexity of Queens’ Sports Complex.
  • College athletics administration and/or special event experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including exemplary poise, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to represent Queens’ in a positive light at all times.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as the ability to learn and master specialized software programs.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve or prevent problems in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills as well as the ability to plan, organize, and control projects through completion.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience and education.

Work Conditions

  • Work in office environment, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers and vendors.
  • Work requires frequent evening and weekend hours.
  • Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions and may be stressful at times.
