Job Description

Summary

This position is responsible for facilitating/ coordinating the recruitment, marketing and admission process for all prospective students seeking to earn their undergraduate degree within the Cato School of Education, McColl School of Business, Knight School of Communication, Blair College of Health and Presbyterian School of Nursing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assist prospective students through the admissions process; review and evaluate transcripts; test scores and process all other essential documents for admissions.
  • Ensure day to day operations are completed within the office and that the admissions process is followed for all students.
  • Assist with administrative support including schedule management, communication and assistance with external relations by providing reports, research, etc.
  • Manage assigned territory that will include specific recruitment goals for undergraduate programs. 
  • Serve on recruitment committees on campus as assigned to better leverage adult program branding.
  • Coordinate and implement regular recruitment activities including off campus visits, interviews with prospective students and admission information sessions.
  • Contribute to ongoing development of effective administrative procedures and systems for the office.
  • Effectively communicate the Queens missions to all constituencies who inquire about our adult programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality, particularly as it pertains to all student matters.


Non-Essential Duties

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department goals



Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience preferred in admissions/ recruitment and marketing or event planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, including the ability to quickly establish rapport with a wide spectrum of people, both external and internal to the university.
  • Must have proven ability to maintain and project a professional image at all times when representing the university.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to plan and deliver effective presentations to small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills; strong follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure timely, within-budget completion of goals and objectives.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative, win-win manner.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Jenzabar, Info Maker and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new information.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and/or weekends to meet demands of the position.

  • Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


Additional Information

Work Conditions

  • Work in an office environment, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers and vendors.

  • Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions, high volume and may be stressful at times.

  • Work will requires some travel and evening hours.
