We are seeking a sales specialist to drive sales of 3M industrial products.  You do not need to be currently 3M Certified, but be able to become 3M Certified.

Job Description

This position will be responsible for driving Stellar Industrial Supply sales of 3M Industrial Products and will work towards becoming a 3M Certified Specialist. The 3M product portfolio includes such products as high-quality abrasives, tapes, films, adhesives and specialty materials for the manufacture, repair and maintenance of autos, aircraft, boats, and other vehicles. In addition supporting products and services specific to the industrial industry, the position also represents a myriad of innovative products and services that help manufacturers improve their business locally and across the globe. The position requires extensive travel to support local branches in Western Washington, and some travel nationally, mainly for factory training and conferences. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

More specifically, it is the responsibility of the Specialist – 3M Certified to:

1. Support coverage of assigned accounts and/or within an assigned geography

2. Assist sales management in reaching business plan goals 

3. Understand and achieve sales targets and objectives

4. Demonstrate products and train customers on product applications

5. Sell 3M Industrial Products such as: Abrasives, Pressures Sensitive Tapes and Adhesives

6. Understand customer processes and sell value versus price

7. Sell 3M Industrial Products such as: Abrasives, Pressures Sensitive Tapes and Adhesives

8. Work with Stellar Industrial Supply sales representatives, customer specifications, and material approvals through conducting joint sales calls and providing product training

9. Drive forecast attainment for a zone

10. Understand distributor business strategy

11. Develop strong relationships and influence distributor sales representatives,3M sales representatives, customer accounts and prospects

12. Understand customer business priorities

13. Understand customer manufacturing processes

14. Utilize solution-based selling skills

15. Manage business planning and execution process

16. Track and measure results against business plan

Qualifications

• Proven sales performer that can meet or exceed a 20% new product sale quota

• Strong oral, written and presentation skills

• Excellent computer skills

• Outstanding sales preparation and organizational skills

• Works effectively in a sales team environment

• Creative problem solving

• Takes active role in self-development

• Travel up to 5O% in a sales territory

• Participates in a two week training session at 3M's headquarter in St. Paul, MN

• Experience selling in the industrial market arena is preferred

• Familiarity with 3M's industrial products is not required
