Job Description

Refinery29 Inc. is seeking an Analytics Platform Engineer for its New York, NY location!

 

Duties:

  • Analyze and improve the functionality of the analytics platform used by Refinery29, managing architecture, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting issues utilizing Javascript, PHP, GitHub, jQuery, SQL and mongoDB
  • Review user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve the analytics platform and review system capabilities, workflow, and limitations.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to craft Lean Product Roadmaps
  • Assess and provide recommendations on the technical merit of software solutions or functional requirements under consideration, including platforms, frameworks, and API/SDKs
  • Manage relationships and oversee integrations and partnerships with third-party platforms, such as SimpleReach, Google Analytics, Gnip, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Mock-up and prototype ideas to expand or modify the analytics platform to serve new purposes or improve work flow
  • Utilize expertise in Algorithms and Complexity, Software Design Patterns, Database Design, Statistical/Numerical Analysis, Big Data Processing, Client/Server Architectures, Patterns, Object Oriented Programming, Web Technologies, and Data Visualization to design and evaluate Database schemas.
  • Manipulate large-scale Data Processing technologies and Business Intelligence workflows
  • Program libraries for other developers and write well-documented reference code
  • Assess and refactor code bases
  • Share knowledge with colleagues using technical writing and presentations
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and Marketing team to create and implement a strategic direction for platform and product development that will drive site acquisition and enhance reader engagement online

 

40 hours/week.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the position offered, or as a Web Developer or related.
  • Alternatively, company will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields followed by 5 years of progressive experience as described.
  • Full term of required experience must involve:
    • Managing architecture, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting issues with respect to an analytics platform utilizing Javascript, PHP, GitHub, jQuery, SQL and mongoDB
    • Using and implementing web analytics technologies, including Google analytics
    • Utilizing expertise in algorithms and complexity, software design patterns, database design, statistical/numerical analysis, big data processing, client/server architectures, patterns, object oriented programming, web technologies, and data visualization to design and evaluate database schemas
    • Manipulating large-scale data processing technologies and business intelligence workflows
    • Assessing and refactoring code bases
    • Liaising with digital marketing teams; and
    • Managing relationships and overseeing integrations and partnerships with third-party platforms
