Job Description

NewsCred is seeking a candidate to lead Sales Operations in New York City to help build and scale our sales efforts. You will own sales operations at NewsCred and will be largely responsible for the overall efficiency of the team, from detailed administrative work to high level strategy. In short, you'll be a jack of all trades and will be deeply embedded within every facet of the sales organization - this is a constantly evolving role, and your day-to-day will range from ensuring data accuracy within SalesForce, to running point on integrating the sales team with every other team/process/department within NewsCred, to strategic work on building an efficient and scalable team.

The ideal candidate is an extremely motivated entrepreneurial spirit with a deep drive to build a machine that scales; NewsCred is a rapidly growing company and needs forward thinking operations candidates who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get in the trenches with the sales team to ensure we are well positioned both in our internal operations and external presentation. A sales background is not required, but you'll interact daily with anyone from members of the team to high level execs; this is a perfect role if you're interested in learning how to build an organization.

Responsibilities

This role will vary and at times it can be hard to predict your day-to-day responsibilities; here are some examples of what you can expect:

  • Strategic sales reporting - stay on top of metrics to help spot trends and issues as they arise

  • Helping develop the sales team's interactions/responsibilities with the rest of the organization, from developing a process to efficiently sell a new product, to working with marketing to ensure we're getting enough of the right support, to liaising with client services to help ensure that the right deals move along the pipeline with proper information transfer

  • Maintaining SalesForce - user training, basic maintenance (i.e. building fields, reports and dashboards), troubleshooting, and data integrity

  • Evaluating sales tools that will make the team more efficient

  • Running retrospectives with individual sellers to figure out what's working and what's not

  • Constantly refining the sales process to make the team more efficient and consistent

  • Running periodic larger-scale analyses on close rates, pipeline movement, seller efficiency etc, as well as developing new key metrics to track

  • Anything else that comes up! You'll be responsible for relentlessly making the sales team more efficient, no matter how big or small the task at hand.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years in sales operations or management (SaaS sales / software sales preferred)

  • Sales background is not required, but extremely helpful - you'll be interacting with the sales team daily and will need to constantly keep a sales framework in mind

  • SalesForce experience a must - you will not need to be a technical SalesForce developer, but you'll need to be able to get into the weeds to refine the system and then translate and train users

  • Scrappy technical mentality - this is not a "technical" role, but you'll be called on to perform analysis in Excel, put together coherent presentations and reports, and generally get into the weeds whenever required

  • Strong time management skills - while you will meet weekly with sales leadership, you'll need to largely manage your own work and set appropriate deliverables to other members of the organization

  • Solid communication abilities (written and verbal) will be critical for interfacing with the rest of the organization

  • Proven, detail-oriented operational ability

  • Self-starting, out-of-the box thinking and approach

  • Interest in NewsCred's mission, from content marketing to media to journalism

  • BA/BS
